Getting Back into Warcraft
I’m struggling to get back into World of Warcraft. I’m having trouble figuring out what to do in game and it’s a little frustrating for me. I thought the new Legion announcements would get me excited to play, but the result was actually, “Why should I do that now when it’ll be better in Legion.” I love WoW and I miss playing it, but Warlord of Draenor just wasn’t compelling to me. The leveling experience was great, but not particularly repeatable. Now I’m stuck with a lot of things I think I’d like to do, but enough road blocks in the way to prevent me from actually doing them.
So, here’s my plan of attack:
Step 1: Pick an alt to roll and focus on.
I’m planning on rolling my last alt of the expansion. I think I’m going to roll a Human Rogue because I think the feel of the new outlaw rogue spec will create a fresh and exciting character to play.
Step 2: Get involved in my guild.
Ever since my main guild split up in Cataclysm, I’ve been bouncing around from guild to guild with no real feeling of connection. It’s time that changed. Ask most people who have been playing WoW for a long time why they stay in the game, and they will explain it’s the relationships that keep bringing them back. I have a few characters taking up space in the Convert to Raid mega-guild, and I think that needs to be where I start my search.
Step 3: Finish end game content on my main.
Once I get my new rogue to 90, I need to grind through all the Patch 6.2 content that I stepped away from and get flying on my main so that it unlocks for my alts. I have no interest in ship missions, but it’s content that I need to get through to be able to finish up this expansion.
Step 4: Make my characters look cool.
If I can get my new rogue to 100, it’s off to transmog. With the announcement that we will be getting all quest reward in our transmog closets, I can finally start running dungeons to find transmog items without worrying about fill up my bags with quest rewards.
Step 5: Get the “Insane” achievement.
I’ve wanted this achievement ever since it came out, but I’ve never dedicated myself to actually achieving it. This will be the patch that gets me to that goal. With the reputation buff from my human’s “Diplomacy” trait and my rogue’s ability to pick-pocket, it becomes a matter of grinding the rep out.
Will I get to step 5? Maybe not, but at least by setting some goals and trying to stick to them, I can try and find the motivation I need to get back into a game that I love.
